Standing on the Promises of Christ My King

We have been speaking (on Sunday mornings) on the promises of God for 5 weeks now and I have found myself humming or singing this old hymn numerous times:

Standing on the promises of Christ my King,
Through eternal ages let His praises ring,
Glory in the highest, I will shout and sing,
Standing on the promises of God.

Refrain:
Standing, standing,
Standing on the promises of God my Savior;
Standing, standing,
I’m standing on the promises of God.

Standing on the promises that cannot fail,
When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail,
By the living Word of God I shall prevail,
Standing on the promises of God.
Standing on the promises I now can see
Perfect, present cleansing in the blood for me;
Standing in the liberty where Christ makes free,
Standing on the promises of God.
Standing on the promises of Christ the Lord,
Bound to Him eternally by love’s strong cord,
Overcoming daily with the Spirit’s sword,
Standing on the promises of God.
Standing on the promises I cannot fall,
List’ning every moment to the Spirit’s call,
Resting in my Savior as my all in all,
Standing on the promises of God.

We study the promises in scripture to be reminded that God is true. His words are true.  He is faithful to the end.  He promises to answer… He promises to save… He promises to never leave us or forsake us.

Is The Lord your “All in all”?  Let’s continue to dive into studying His promises.  Commit them to memory.  Let’s remind one another in good times, and in bad, that God is the promise (Covenant) keeper that He says He is.  Look what 2 Peter says of His promises:

2 Peter 1:3-4 3 His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to[c] his own glory and excellence,[d] 4 by which he has granted to us his precious and very great PROMISES, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire.

Through God’s promises we can become “partakers of the divine nature”!!!  We can become like Him!  As we come to truly know Him, we become more like Him…WHAT AN ENCOURAGING REALITY!  Be encouraged this week that you know the Lord and that you can know Him increasingly through your life.  It’s what this life is all about… KNOWING GOD!

Again, be encouraged!
