Marvelous God

“O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens. When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him?” Psalm 8:1, 3-4

As you read these verses you can picture David out in the field looking up at the sky and marveling at God’s creation. As David ponders the vastness of God’s creation, he is moved to praise His name and give him glory. David marvels at the vastness of God as he asks the question, “what is man that you are mindful of him?” Why is it that a God who is charge of all, knows all, and yet cares about me a little insignificant human? David is moved by the love that God has for him.

We too have many opportunities to marvel at God’s creation especially this time of year. As Spring begins we can hear the birds and see the flowers starting to peek through. The days are slowly warming up even though we had snow this last week. God loves us so much and he wants to make sure that nothing separates us from Him.

In the next couple of weeks our church golf league will begin. I received new clubs for Christmas so I am sure my game will improve. LOL. I try to remember what I learned last year. Here was one lesson. My golf game started out in an awful way. The first six holes I was hitting all different ways and I knew that something was wrong. I know I am not the best golfer but definitely better than what I was doing. On the sixth hole it hit me. I had my hand on the golf club turned wrong. I put my hands at the right place and suddenly my game improved drastically. The error of where I placed my hands threw off my whole game and I had to think how often sin throws off our spiritual walk with God.

For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of the light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) and find out what pleases the Lord. Ephesians 5:8-9

Live as children of the light. So many times in our lives we allow sin to flourish. We think we are hiding it from God. “It is no big deal”’ we reason, “it isn’t hurting anyone” and yet in reality it is throwing everything off. I praise God that we can correct our spiritual walks by turning from and repenting of our sins. God sent His one and only Son to pay the price so we could be forgiven by the blood of the Lamb. What an amazing God. Like David we too can marvel at the vastness of God and yet his love for us little insignificant humans shown through his Son Jesus. What a marvelous God!!!
